Tomorrow we are sharing our Journey Through Literature Projects.  Be prepared to present your Literature in a Book Talk to a group of students.  Think about how you could engage your audience and ensure that they want to read your book when you are finished?

Reminder:
-Grade 6's will have a peer assessment on their basic facts tomorrow.  How did you demonstrated initiative to improve your speed and accuracy of your basic facts up to 9X9?

Parent-Teacher Conferences are next week, on Thursday evening, December 4 and Friday, December 5.  Information is coming home today about how to book your conference.  We look forward to sharing your learning celebrations with all parents!

Please share with a family member what connections you made to your learning about nutrition. Why would learning to read food labels be important for your health?  What is one thing that you would like to do to improve your health and wellness?

We have been composing poems about our experiences at Cross Conservation School.  Read to a family member your poem posted in D2L.  Which words or phrases did you use to create pictures for your reader?  Be sure to see if a family member can find your similes and metaphors.

Grade 6's having been studying and sharing a wide variety of learning strategies to assist them with being faster and more accurate to remember their basic multiplication / division facts up to 9X9.  Please share with a family member which strategies work for you.  Be sure to include your rap to remember the multiplication table that you find the most challenging.  We will be doing a peer assessment on Friday to demonstrate your progress.

We are entering the last week of November, our 3rd month of our Learning Journey together!  This week we will be finishing our Journey Through Literature Book Projects.  Please share with a family member what you have completed and posted in D2L.  Look at the assignment criteria and the assessment rubric.  What do you need to work on to achieve excellence?  Set a goal for yourself. We will have a peer assess your project tomorrow and give you feedback.

Our first week at Cross Conservation School was terrific! We are already looking forward to returning in April.

Today we started our learning journey at the Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation Area. Please share with a family member our Meet a Tree activity, and which senses you used!  Where did you choose your special spot for journaling?  Why?

-Please remember to be prepared for all types of weather as we will be outside everyday. Be sure to bring a water bottle. Tomorrow is our half day hike.


Remembrance Day
-Assembly 10:40 am on Friday Nov. 7 in our school gym (grade 5/6 classes will not attend, as we will be out at Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation Area)
-please send non-perishable food items for the Veterans Food Drive to school November 4th – 7th
-please send coin donation (nickels, dimes, quarters, loonies) for poppies
-donations will be collected every morning this week
-poppies will be distributed to students on November 7th
