Our classes examined the artwork and style of famous artist, Ted Harrison. We created our own Ted Harrison inspired art pieces to represent the regions of Canada we have been studying. Share with a family member how you created your art piece. What makes Ted Harrison's art unique? How did you represent your region in this style?

Our classes enjoyed learning about waste and recycling in both the school presentation, and a classroom session. What connections did you make to this presentation? What questions do you have? Welcome back to another rigorous week of learning!

We have been busy investigating classroom chemistry with two different experiments today. Share with a family member how we made crystals using Borax laundry detergent, pipe cleaners and hot water. Explain what happened when we mixed a solid (the laundry detergent) with a liquid (water), and how it changed when it cooled. What are other examples of crystals?

We also began exploring cookie chemistry! Share with a family member examples of mechanical mixtures and solution mixtures when we were baking our chocolate chip cookies.

We are presenting our Quality of Life advertisements.  Explain to a family member which region you would choose to live in because of the quality of life? What factors contribute to quality of life?  What is the importance of landforms or natural resources in a region?

We have started reading The Giver as part of our literacy study.  Be sure to share with a family member which virtues have been demonstrated by the characters of this book.  What is our virtue for January? Why are virtues important?  Is your learning goal connected to a virtue?
