Thank you for joining us for the Stampede Breakfast this morning! We enjoyed celebrating the school year with family, friends and a delicious breakfast!

- Tomorrow (Friday June 26) is the last day of classes! Please invite your families to join us for the Farewell Assembly tomorrow morning at 9:15. 
- The grade 5/6 classes will be having a lunch picnic celebration Friday June 26 after the Farewell Assembly. We will be walking to the Baby Park (across from the school field) to enjoy eating our lunch outside! Please remember to pack a lunch and bring a blanket to sit on if you wish. Please ask your parents to contact Mrs. Calvert or Ms. Makowski if they have any questions or concerns.

Congratulations grade 6 students for completing the Provincial Achievement Tests! Be proud of your hard work and achievement. Your raw scores will be sent home with the report cards on Friday June 26th.

Celebrate your week of rigor!  Grade 5's, for your excellent achievement on your Wetlands presentations.  Grade 6's, you have demonstrated perseverance and mindfulness on your Provincial Achievement Tests.  We have one test left, social studies is on Monday, June 22 at 9:00.
Have a fabulous summer weekend!

Classroom Gardens are ready to Harvest
- Tuesday, June 23 @ 10 am we will offer each student the opportunity to choose from a variety of vegetables to make their own pita
-students will eat their pita with their classmates and their teachers just before recess
-this is a snack; it will not replace a lunch
-we will harvest our tomatoes, lettuce, basil and beans from the classroom gardens
-the following is a list of other food choices that will be offered:
Pita
Cucumbers
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Mustard
Mayo
Hummus
Cheese – shredded marble
-if there ingredients you do NOT want you child to eat please contact the teacher
-if you observe Ramadan we can put the pita in a bag for your child to bring home, please let the teacher know

We have started our last project for this learning year.  It a celebration of the amazing books we have been reading as a class.  Share with a family member your favorite read this year and why.  How are you going to advertise your book to convince your peers that it is the best?

Books have been generously donated to the library this year.  They are not part of our collection, so they will be sent home with children.  Please share your new book with your family.

Grade 6's will be writing their Language Arts Reading Provincial Test tomorrow morning from 9:00-11:00.  Please ensure that you are on time for school, as we read the instructions for the exam together.

-Grade 6 students transitioning to grade 7 who will be taking a bus to their new school -please register online for bussing (transportation) –you do not have to pay until September –if you register then your child will have a seat on a bus  -routes will be shared the end of August.

We have been busy preparing for the Grade 6 Provincial Achievement Tests!

Great job collaborating with a partner to answer reading comprehension questions today! Share with a family member the passages you read. What reading strategies did you use? Explain how these can help you on the Language Arts Part B Provincial Achievement Test scheduled for Wednesday June 17.

We had a presentation today from the Calgary Public Library all about their summer reading program.  Please let a family member know about this engaging reading program.  Be sure to get a library card so you can read all summer.  It's free!

-Monday, June 8th from 12:00-12:45 Brenda from Community Partnerships with the City of Calgary
Will be at the school to survey students
She will be asking students the following questions:
-What do you like about your neighbourhood?
-What don’t you like about your neighbourhood?
-What would you like to see in your neighbourhood?
-Spend some time discussing these questions as a family so you can make a difference in your community.
-This is voluntary.  Students will share their opinions only if they choose.

Today we had a guest presenter, Derek Pulliam, share his knowledge, experience and passion for creating music! Share with a family member your Knew/New connections to this presentation. Begin to think of a topic you would be interested in writing a song about for our upcoming Creative Composers project.
